As a confirmed Jane Austen fan, I waited anxiously for this film to arrive in my city. It was only available at the downtown movie house that shows art films and foreign films. Though it was a disappointment overall, I would not have wanted to miss it. ...

Pros: The costuming was correct for the time period.  The acting was very well done. 
Cons: The movie could have taken the viewer just a little further into Jane's life.

I have read all the books and seen the movies that were made for PBS. I love to watch period movies made from the classics.  After reading Jane's books I decided it would be great to see a movie about her life and see if what I thought her life had been like was close to the interpretation of the writer's and directors of this movie.  I enjoyed the movie for its content and the beautiful filming.  It was a period movie and as far as I could tell the director did not miss a thing.  The casting of the actors simply blended into all of the PBS movies that I have seen of her works before.  I saw this movie on the big screen but would enjoy it just as much on the TV screen.  This is one that I would like to add to my DVD collection as a classic.
