Pros: Cleaning base, good shave quality, effective on longer beard, price (special) Cons: May cut small skin protrusions, restricted head articulation, not as close as wet shave, buzzy
Manufacturers of all kinds of shavers face a difficult problem to solve every year: How to improve on such a mature product line and still get customers to toss their old and buy the new. I have been following the Philips/Norelco product line for many ...
Pros: Closest shave of any razor I have used, cleans itself Cons: Flat shape, bulky base doesn't travel, cleaning is loud, bright blue LEDs distracting in dark
Competition I'm not going to delve into the other competition on the market, since I haven't used those razors personally. Instead, I must mention that I've used other shaving solutions over the years, and compared the Braun ...
Pros: quieter than my old Braun Cons: takes several passes to shave as close as I like.
I wish I had the nerve and energy to take advantage of the thirty day return policy on electric shavers. The only way to find the best shaver for yourself, I believe, is to buy each one that looks promising, try it out for 25 days and then return it. ...
Pros: A decent shaver. Nice close shave, with a little stubble. easy to use. Cons: Maybe a little noisy, nothing serious. It is , after all an electric razor.
This is the first electric shaver that I've had in about 20 years. I had one way back when, but it was a cheaper Remington at the time. Definitely not a fair comparison. The old model died of natural causes (age) and I decided to go back to the triple ...
Pros: Skin loves the shave, reasonably quick shave, unit is constantly clean and charged. Reliable. Cons: Takes several passes to get a complete shave.
I did a lot of shopping around before I bought the Braun and checked the epinions reviews. The other reviews are spot-on. It's not quite as close as a blade and requires several passes to get really smooth. Using ElectricShave pre-treatement helps some, ...
Pros: close shave, quick, cleans self, and no irritation Cons: price (if not on sale), and considerably louder than Norelco's
This is by far the best electric I have owned. Granted the only others I have had were two Norelco, one of which used lotion during shaving. I bought this shaver about a month and a half ago. I got it on-line from Kohl's for $75. I had had my Norelco ...
Pros: Cleaning system is better than previous design. There is nothing else positive to note. Cons: Bad foil and cutter design. Takes forever to complete shave and foil fails frequently.
I have used Braun shavers loyally for as many years as I can remember. I bought the 8985 three months ago to replace a Braun 7526 which was worn out after years of use. The 8985 is the worst shaver I have ever owned. Like many of the previous reviews ...
Pros: Close shave, pivoting head and trimmer Cons: Use common sense to save money on cleaner and cutters
I've had a Braun 360 Complete Electric Shaver for almost two years now and I really like it's ability to shave! I have a short beard, but I use a shaver to keep my neck and cheeks free of facial hair as well as keeping the beard trimmed with the pop-up ...
Pros: Clean and charge shaves almost as close as a blade Shaves 4-5 days stubble Cons: Takes too long to get a thorough close shave 15 minutes on a thick beard
This was my first electric shaver - I normally shave with a shick extreme 3 bladed razor. Once my face got used to the razor (took a couple of weeks), it shaved almost as close as a bladed razor. The charging and storage unit were handy and no fuss. I ...
Pros: Use it before you wash or after, self cleaning, very close shave Cons: can't think of anything I don't like.
I have been using electric shavers for 37 years so I don't shave with a blade very often. My last Remington AC corded shaver gave up after 15 years. You can't find anything that isn't rechargeable (not an important feature for me) so I decided to get ...
forces you to use up the cleanser by johnstrass ,Oct 26 '08
Pros: best electric shave ever Cons: Forces you to use "cleaning" cartridges every time you charge or not at all
I have used only electric my whole life (I get razor bumps with a blade). I will not add to what others have written: this is a great machine and the closest I have ever used. However, on the predecessor model you can manually select charge / clean or combo. I dont remeber which model and it si not printed on the side of the one I am staring at -- it has a blue 1 cm round button on the side: the 360 complete has a semilunar blue button on the front - the razors are otherwise identical since i have both. I like that. I do not like being forced to "clean" every day: that is not needed. In the new (360 complete) if you want to charge it, you have to let it auto wash. That forces you to use up the cartridge which besides form being pricey is also bad for the environment.
Pros: Decent shave, liked the pivoting head. Cons: Cleaning solution smelled like solvent; cleaning base was cumbersome & in my case didn't work.
I received a Braun 360 for Christmas & just returned it to Costco. Nice idea but not worth the $$. The cleaning solution deal is a gimmick designed to keep you buying the fluid cartridges (think printer ink) plus the base on mine was defective & wouldn't release the shaver.
Pros: Shaves very close, cleaning station works great, build quality is great Cons: The foil screen is some what fragile as with all foil type razors.
I have been mostly using a mach 3 and decided to go back to electric. The problem was my old norelco (lotion dispensing type) was due for replacement. After doing some research on foil type razors (supposed to shave closer than rotary type) I found the braun. It was a little pricey but figured you get what you pay for. After using it for the past three weeks I am more impressed each day. It shaves about as close as my mach 3 using a downward stoke (same direction as hair would grow). My facial hair is some what on the light side with that being said I found the razor to work better if i shave every other day. I also did the same with my mach 3. The cleaning station works great...not too noisy. Razor is about as noisy as my other electric razor (norelco). I am very satisfied and would buy again.
Braun 8995 shaver is GREAT!!! by jchasp ,Feb 25 '07
Pros: Clean shaver and close shave in about 2 minutes. Cons: Takes up space on the counter.
I used a Panasonic wet/dry shaver before. I find the Braun 360 to be far superior to any electric shaver I have used. Don't know about the cleaning system and it's costs, but don't really care since the shaver is clean each use and does such a wonderful job (in about 2 minutes!) "Footprint" of the cleaning base is large, bad for small bathroom spaces...
Otherwise, BRAVO!!!
Didn't live up to the hype by closeshaver ,Dec 23 '06
Pros: liked the clean and charge base Cons: The unit itself and the replacement cleaning solution are very expensive.
I replaced a ten year old Braun, which I loved with the Braun 8985 and was very disappointed. It didn't shave nearly as close as my old one. I felt as if I had to shave twice a day and my beard is not heavy or thick. Also, my old one was a wet/dry razor which I loved and the hair trimmer was wider which was an added bonus
