Pros: Service, staff, food, pool, amenities, all of it! Cons: Complimentary dinner with package was a pre-set dinner with no substitutions.
My husband surprised me with a trip to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary. Our first stop was Waikiki and The Halekulani. I don't think I've ever been treated with such pampering in any trip I've ever taken. We were picked up at the airport by ...
Pros: Impeccable service, ideal location, terrific dining options, lovely rooms Cons: On the expensive side--but oh-so-worth it!
I have a lot of experience with the Halekulani and have been there countless times. I grew up in Hawaii, and the Halekulani is the most respected and luxurious hotel in the islands. The Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island and the Ritz-Carlton...
We just came home from spending 1 week at this gorgeous hotel, Halekulani, a oasis in the city of Honolulu. The service the world class cuisine was uncomparable to any other hotel that i have been a guest. We arrived and were escorted to our room to be ...
Pros: Excellent Service, quiet, peaceful setting in a hurried Waikiki, on beach Cons: not for bargain hunters, very expensive but worth it
If you are looking for a premier hotel to stay at in Waikiki then Halekulani is the place for you. I have stayed here many times in the past and for the money, convience and superb ambience nothing beats it.
Pros: European-style hotel with incredible food and service Cons: Expensive
I lived in Honolulu for 3 years. I came to discover that there are thousands of rooms in Waikiki. Most of them are set back off the beach either across busy Kalakaua avenue, or even further. If you can afford it, the Halekulani, the Sheraton Moana, or...
Hotel Prides Itself on Customer Service by mkgal4 ,Jan 24 '07
Pros: Great Customer Service. Beautiful views. Cons: Expensive and one in a long line of hotels.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights in January, 2007. It is clear from the moment you arrive that the number 1 goal of the staff is customer service. There is valet parking when you arrive and a staff member escorts you directly to your room and checks you in there. The hotel itself is clean and well kept. We stayed on the 6th floor. Our room had a beautiful oceanfront view and a clear view of Diamond Head. The room itself had a king sized bed, tv and stereo with cd changer. There was a cd playing tropical music when we entered the room. The bathroom was spacious and had a separate bath and shower unit.
The grounds are very well kept. The food was very good. For dinner, you are entertained with live local music and hula dancing.
On the downside, the hotel is located in the heart of Waikiki, but is by no means the private oasis that their website alludes to. Although things never seemed overly crowded, the hotel is located amongst a hotel "strip". It is also quite pricey. We paid $600+ per night and they charge $22 a day to park.
Pros: Immaculate service, elegant hotel, friendly, restaurant LaMer is the best in the Hawaiian islands Cons: I've been trying to think of some cons and there are none, really.
Travel and Leisure Magazine rates Halekulani as the 23rd best hotel in the world in their 2005 list of "Top 100 Hotels In the World." I can see why. My ten day stay was almost perfect. I say almost because a couple of days there were some noisy kids around the pool (this is NOT a hotel for kids) but that's not the hotel's fault. I have stayed at 5 star hotels in London, Paris, Beverly Hills and elsewhere and I would give Halekulani more than a 5-star rating. If there is such a thing as a 6-star hotel, this is it.
Pros: Everything. A hotel experience second to none Cons: None, some complain of the price, but IT'S WORTH IT!!
Everything was perfect with this resort. Yes, it is a little more expensive, but it really is worth every penny. The attention to detail within the room and the grounds of the hotel is outstanding. In the room: hand made chocolates, orchids on the bed at turn down, Sony flatscreen TV, large lanai, fresh fruit, fuzzy slippers, large soaker tub, cd player with Hawaiian music CD's, fridge stocked with water and juices (Free!!) etc. etc. Out of the room: friendly smiling faces everywhere, we never touched our bags, a bellman who refused a tip, helpful, helpful people, chilled towels at the pool. I felt like we were at home (without the petty fights and disagreements:) For example, my wife left her wedding rings on the bathroom counter in the morning, and when we returned later in the day, there was a sweet note from the housekeeper under the rings suggesting she might lock them in the safe. Superb in every way.
Pros: Small hotel feel. An envious prime ocean front location. Professional staff Cons: Leaving the entrance, you are spilled on to Lewers with the masses of budget tourists.
I first visited Oahu on a post high school graduation trip during the Summer of 1983. I discovered the Halekulani with friends as we walked along the beach. We gasped at the orchid tile mosaic at the bottom of the pool. I promised myself I would one day be able to spend time there. Ten years later, I was able to fulfill that promise and it was well worth it.
It was almost like walking in to Oz on my first visit. The lush greens of the grounds and pool area a welcomed respite from the concrete of Honolulu. The low towers do not spoil the views of Diamond Head or the ocean.
At the pool, you will hear French, German, Japanese including English from Americans, Australians and Canadians. Pool staff is friendly and attentive.
Some of the best cuisine is at the Halekulani. Words to not describe it. I encourage everyone, whether they are staying at the Halekulani or not, to at least spend one evening at Le Mer, or Orchids for dinner.
