Bonneville America owner tells all

by heevahoffa , Nov 19 '02
Pros: Styling, handling, heritage, sound (with offroad pipes), price
Cons: Warning lights are dim. And a bigger engine would be nice
I wanted a good-looking, classic cruiser that was reliable and comfortable.

I looked at the Harleys and they are wonderful, but they're expensive. They're also common nowadays. I looked at Polaris but they were ordinary looking. I looked at...

This bike turns heads!

by Baldwyn , Aug 30 '01
Pros: The looks, and the attention! Fun riding!
Cons: No tachometer, lead time for parts.
I bought the 2001 Triumph Bonneville in April, after a wait time of about 3 months. Since then, I've put about 5500 miles on it, commuting 80 miles a day on a busy highway in California (which means I split lanes alot). It is my first bike, but I have...

Bonneville T100 in Greece

by drmfree , May 22 '04
Pros: Looks, handling, smooth twin power (adequate), great gear box, light weight, and wonderful comfort.
Cons: Only adequate smooth twin power, brakes are not sensational.
I recently returned from Greece where I put about 1000 miles on a '92 Bonneville T100. The trip and rental was arranged by Triumph Bike Tours of Greece, and they were really great. My last experience with a Triumph had been in the early '80's and I got ...

I've spent 13 months and 16,000 miles with my red 01 Bonnie and it's awesome. Extremely easy to ride, reliable, handles very well, good brakes, corners extremely well for a classic standard. The fit and finish is very, very good, always turns heads and...

America the Bonnieful

by bonnyoz , Oct 23 '01
Pros: Classic lines, easy riding, top notch finish.
Cons: Front brake.
What a ride and what a bike! Two things spring to mind when I took my first ride on this retro cruiser from the house of Hinckley...tradition and excellence in build! It's little wonder why the folks at Triumph spent nearly two years fine tuning the look...

Cons: non-chrome items as stock
the picture on this page is not the "BA" (Bonnie America) but simply a bonnie. goto www.triumph.uk.co to see the real one were talking about, this bike is SOOO nice. it seems triumph decided to compete headon in the H-D sportster/shadow market, and they...

1st bike love affair.

by mikebg , May 05 '03
Pros: Retro Stylings. Reliable Performance. A phenom bike, all around!
Cons: Stock Seat is dreadful. Stock Pipes are really quiet.
Without fail, each time I take the bike out, people stop me and want to know about her. What year? How much did I pay? I brought it in to the local HD dealer for an inspection sticker and the technition began to tell stories of his early days on his...

2002 Triumph Bonneville America UPDATED VERSION

by brewdude , Sep 07 '02
Pros: Great Handling, Great looks and fun riding.
Cons: Many warranty problems, 3 bad oil leaks, lost ignition coil and valve noises.
I bought this bike back in April 2002 after a test ride in Daytona. I only have put on 6000 miles on it since it has been in the shop for a total of 4 weeks. I love the way it handles since we live in the mountains of NC. I have ridden the Dragons...

It's different than the rest

by bassballs66 , Jun 05 '05
Pros: Good power, comfort, handling and style.
Cons: No kick starter, toolkit. Seat could be a little more cushy.
I bought my 2002 Bonneville used with 3800 miles on the clock. It came with some upgrades including tachometer, center stand, chrome chainguard, rubber kneepads and the "offroad" mufflers. I will have to say that I'm completely satisfied with this ...

Just purchased 2001 Bonneville
by oldguysrule ,Nov 21 '05
Pros: Great Handling and stopping power, lots of torque, looks great, very smooth on the road.
Cons: Kind of light for highway cruising unless your two up.
My wife and I just purchased a 2001 Bonnie (pre-owned) The previous owner put all the chrome package on it that Triumph offers and an after market exhaust. Since I am 53 the exhaust is very loud to me but after driving in some traffic I am not going to change it. Loud pipes can save lives or at least let them know you are there! Anyway he added a tach kit from triumph and the bike is stunning. We have ridden it now over 800 miles and it is a real pleasure to ride very smooth and the handling is great. The mileage averages 46 - 47 mpg but the performance is great. I have a 69 650, and they look almost identical in some regards. Our new Bonnie cruises easily at 65 - 70 and getting to 80 to pass is just a twist of the throttle and your gone. The brakes are superb, so far we really recommend the bike to anyone interested in one.

love the handling but rear shocks not up to job.
front rim welding joint not flash and is noticable underway
a common problem with all bikes in showroom.
overall a very good feeling motor that gives the rider the impression of mechanicle strength.
the bike is light enough to throw around and heavy enough to give good stability at speed a truly FUN bike indeed.

2007 bonneville,AWESOME!!
by joe_mechanic ,Apr 12 '07
Pros: Engine,handling,balance,looks,comfort,electrical,reliability
Cons: brakes are a little underkill,no gas guage,no kick start
I purchased a new 2007 bonneville t-100 in november 2006.I have had several other similar bikes,'70s hondas, and kawasakis. If there is one characteristic of this bike that I would like to praise overall,it is the bonneville's superb balance, and center of gravity,The 865 cc engine does a much better job of moving you along than does it's predecessor,it comes with 66 bhp stock, and with off road pipes, and jets,it is up around 78,I have found this bike to be very reasonably powerful,I have put 1000 miles on it so far,and have yet to open the throttle all the way,the bike is said to be faster than the 883 sportster,I don't know,I haven't raced one,but I do know the bike has more than ample power for the average rider, the only thing I would change about this bike is to put dual brakes in front, and possibly a belt drive, other than that it is a very nice bike, very beautiful in appearance, and very fun to ride,a win win situation!
