Pros: Easy to use, attractive, refills last a long time, contains smell very well Cons: Moderately expensive and some odor when changing out a full bag
We purchased the Diaper Dekor Plus at the recommendation of a coworker (we originally had registered for the Diaper Genie). I couldn't be happier with our choice. The Diaper Dekor Plus is very easy to use - you literally step on the lever that opens ...
Pros: Extremely easy to use.
Excellent odor control.
Attractive.
Not limited to use as diaper pail. Cons: None noted so far.
As new parents, we were somewhat overwhelmed with the choices when we faced the wall o' diaper pails at a large chain baby store. Friends had weighed in both for and against the Diaper Genie (more against than for), so we looked at other options. After ...
Pros: Ease of Use
Completely Stink-free.
Refill bags last a long time.
Attractive design. Cons: Slightly more expensive.
Refills harder to find at 11PM.
Would you believe that the easiest-to-use, the most stink-free and the most attractive are all available in the same diaper pail? First the ease of use. Other brands talk about their one-handed operation. Make no mistake. The Diaper Dekor ...
Pros: Easy to use Cons: Refills are hard to find locally (online is no problem)
We have the Diaper Dekor+ for the upstairs and the Diaper Genie downstairs. My wife and I are both more impressed with the Diaper Dekor over the Genie for the following reasons: 1) We have no smell from either, even though the Diaper Dekor is in a ...
Pros: Customizable bag size
Locking door
Ease of use Cons: Initial confusion on the type of refill bag needed
When I was pregnant with my first child, I did some research and decided to register for the Diaper Genie. My older sister, who doesn't have children, decided to get me the Diaper Dekor at first, after doing her own research. I was a little annoyed at ...
Pros: Easy to use, easy to replace refills, refills last for a fairly long time. Cons: Trapdoors break repeatedly-no wonder they give a free replacement the first time!
I have owned my Diaper Dekor Plus for 25 months. In 2005, I found glowing reports in the Wall Street Journal and most other places. It definitely is easy to use and the refills do last quite awhile, BUT... the trapdoors have broken TWICE. I contacted ...
Pros: Effortless to use; long-lasting refills; large capacity; great customer service. Cons: Hatch and lid are easy for babies to open.
I chose the Dekor after researching it obsessively during my pregnancy, and it has exceeded all my expectations over 9 months of use. I often find myself raving about my diaper pail to strangers! When I visit other moms and use the changing area, they ...
Better than other diaper pails! by riverbee ,Jul 20 '07
Pros: $22 refill lasts 8 months, GREAT customer service Cons: read review
In my experience, the diaper dekor plus has been the easiest and best value out of all available diaper pails and systems. We have been using it for nearly 2 years now with no problems, no breaking parts, etc.
As our baby started eating big kid foods (not baby food but actual table food), we've had to change the pail every 2-3 days to prevent smell in the nursery. Up until this point, we have changed it once per week with no odor problems.
Other than that, a box of refills for $22 lasts us about 8 months and we went through 15 diapers a day up until the baby was 10 months old and now go through 8-10 per day.
Not odorless in our house by momoftwinboys ,Sep 25 '03
Pros: Fits a lot of diapers and looks nice. Cons: Starts to smell after using for a few months.
I was happy with this at first but now after 9 months, I'm not so happy with it. After about 4 months or so, the smell started to leak. And now I can't wait to use up the refills and get the diaper champ or something.
At first very nice, but then beware! by notaquitter ,Mar 19 '06
Pros: holds a lot of newborn diapers, general concept is nice Cons: not a well made product, falls apart easily
Ok..a little dramatic title, but this diaper pail worked just fine in the beginning, mind you there was no smell due to the baby being breastfed (a noted fact that babies that are breastfed (before introducing solids) really don't have smelly poops. Anyways, it worked ok, but then....
**the foot pedal cracked
**the hinge on the opening flap cracked/broke
**the hinge on the front door broke
**After introducing solids, the pail smelled, even after wiping it down with bleach or other cleaners and changing the liners.
The liners are expensive. I like the whole concept of the diaper dekor but you might as well go with the diaper champ. I just threw my diaper dekor out and purchased a cheap flap lid garbage pail that fits the supermarket bags. At the end of the night i empty the pail. Less hassle and less smell.
Pros: Refills last a long time, the company is very helpful with replacement parts. Cons: Our trap door broke, (but the company replaced it for free).
This diaper pail deals with smell just as well as the others. But what sets it above is that since the bag can be ripped and tied off at any point, we can empty the pail whenever we want without wasting a whole bag. And the refills last a long time. Our son is 15 months old, and I can count on one hand how many times we've had to refill the pail. The company is great, too. The trap door on our pail stopped working, and after I contacted them about buying a replacement, they told me they'd send one to us for free even though our warranty was up months ago!
Pros: Yeah...None Cons: Read my review and you will know
Okay, I bought this because every review that I read said how wonderful it is. Honestly I think these people have lost their minds. This thing is genuine J-U-N-K!!! I will tell you why...
First of all door does not close correctly. Thus allowing the wonderful perfume of "dirty diaper" to scent the air. So I would not recommend shutting the door to the room that this is in. Trust me!!! And I wash it weekly; with bleach!!
It also does not hold a lot of diapers. I am constantly changing out the liner. So this brings me to my next point...
Before you buy this make sure you can find the refills at a local store; which we can not. So we have to order them online and get stuck paying the shipping and handling. At the rate that I change the liner I think I am just going to get rid of this once they are gone.
So if you do not mind the scent of pooh scented house, this is the diaper pail for you. But if you are like me..DO NOT WASTE THE MONEY!!!
I have not compared this diaper container with others so I don't know if there's a better solution out there. I just know that I have to empty this container once a day or it really still smells.
