Yokohama Guardex 340 Truck/SUV Tire

Pros: Great ice and snow traction, with good wear characteristics.
Cons: They don't put themselves on the truck in the autumn.

After 2 winter seasons driving around the Lake Tahoe basin (we do get snow and ice here), I can't say enough good things about these tires on my 4Runner. I don't think I fully appreciated how well they worked, until I took them off in early spring and went back to my BFG summer tires. We had one more cold icy morning, and I did a full 3 rotations with a half twist on Highway 28 - as I'd become accustomed to the Yoko's superior grip on the icy roads. Even numerous trips down to the bay area on dry warm roads haven't put a serious dent in the tread life, party due to the fact that the tread is so damn deep to begin with. I'll get at least on more winter out of them, and definitely buy another set.
